Especially for us who seek inspirations for designing kitchen in limited space;small space in here; there are five questions to be considered before begin to design.
1. How Many People Use the Kitchen?
Family or an empty-nester will have different needs of a comfy kitchen. For families, they may want a lower food storage so that it will be easier to reach by their kid, while a couple might option for an island with a cooktop and bar sink.
2. Do you need space for dining?
If you do but you need a space-saving option, a folding bar stool can be a better choice rather than a kitchen island. On the other hand, a kitchen island is a worthy consideration when there is a modest space.
3. Where will your work triangle fit in?
One of key point of small kitchen ideas is optimal configuration between the stove, refrigerator, and sink (“work triangle”). Such as using a rolling carts which offer storage and workspace, and their mobility frees up built-in space to accommodate the triangle.
4. How can you maximize storage space?
Beside a built in space for storage like the picture below, you can also consider using cabinets up to the ceiling line to store occasional kitchen tools, like holiday bakeware or turkey platter.
5. Which colors or surfaces will visually expand the space?
Lighter colors and reflective surfaces like stainless steel and chrome tend to open up a small space. And so does the effect of undercabinet lighting.
Answer those five questions based on your preferences and then you are ready to design your own small but comfy kitchen.
